About Us: Learning a Lifetime Sport!

Our goal is to give every child the opportunity to fill summer hours with a quality experience by learning a lifetime sport involving family, friends and fun.

TFK was founded by Hank Merges and others in 1990 and is still going strong, is available, free, to children ages 7-16. We operate at 21 locations in York and Adams Counties. In 2024, our season runs from June 11 to July 11. See our registration form for details.

At least two adults supervise each site. We strive to maintain a ratio of one instructor for every 10 children at the site. Our site supervisors and instructors, numbering over 200, are paid.

TFK has been honored with awards from the United States Tennis Association and the National Junior Tennis League for “continued excellence in recreational tennis programming.”

Tennis For Kids is about tennis, of course, but it is also about lessons for life. We think and talk about values such as pride, confidence, perseverance, responsibility, positive attitudes, respect, responsibility and courtesy. We work to make Tennis For Kids a memorable experience for our youngsters.

What Participants are Saying...

I love the first day of tennis for kids when I see the kids faces as they get their own racquet. Also, I love the last day when kids say, “I can’t wait until next year!”
